The Chiefs' Unimpressive Domination

Andy Reid and The Kansas City Chiefs find themselves in what has become, for them somewhat of a familiar place.  Well, sort of. A place of domination. But at the same time, while their record is without a blemish, we can testify their play has been far from free without any blemish.  They haven't dominatingly dominated. They arguably haven't even played their best game yet, and they somehow still manage to sit alone at the top of the league at a paradoxically, unimpressively undefeated record of 8-0. There's a     sentence I didn't think I would write about a team. But the fact is, unlike the league's previously undefeated teams, they haven't exactly been blowing anyone away. They haven't had a ton of glory, earth-shattering domination in their domination. Though, to be sure, there has been some sparks of dominating domination. But their biggest win, at this point in the season, comes from their Week 5 victory     at home, vs the New Orleans Saints, in a 26-13 win. Outside of that, the average margin of victory for the team is about 7 points.  Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes has noticeably played below his usual level of dominating domination, nonetheless, he's been sharp and efficient, but again, noticeably messy. The team has benefited from a strong defense, special teams and supporting cast of reliable receivers. In fact, he enters week 9, having thrown a pick in each game this season. And Mahomes' 90.1 QBR this season, is his 2nd lowest career rating.  It's a little scary, then, if they haven't even played their best and are still undefeated, watch out!          Mahomes' "lack" of super level of play has been hindered by nagging injuries, and those don't seem to derail him enough to keep him out long enough, though he did exit Monday night's game when he re-aggravated his ankle. And then, everyone took a deep breath, prayed to the Football "gods" and sure     enough, these prayers were heard as he came back in.  It's only a matter of time, then one would think before Mahomes does begin to catch fire in a way that elevates his play this season.  And when that     happens, like a real fire, it spreads everywhere.  I hope other fans of the game or fans of this team don't think I'm just unreasonable harsh criticizing them because I'm an "armchair quarterback"... The blemishes in their play have been there, (and do you mean to tell me you haven't noticed?)  they could easily be in a different position, record wise right now. I know, fans, and especially as a team and as a coaching staff, Andy Reid and his staff are always looking at what they can do or not do differently to be better next time. And nothing in competition is ever enough. Nor should it, no matter how dominatingly dominant one becomes. Maybe the Chiefs who haven't lost since last December, have benefited, above all from Taylor Swift's presence at the Chiefs' games.  Regardless, and in all seriousness, I'm not going to go out "there" to suggest the refs have been the reason. Or sole reason. They're human, just as we all are.  This a truly talented team, and a determined, one too. That's unbreakable determination, at that. And that kind is hard to find. They play each game like they have to win and have the right heads on their shoulders, for leaders. But there are cracks in their game.     It's amazing, though how for one team it can make all the difference. And as a result, that team that is in that "different position" but for a team like this they are consistent and close out. They have proven themselves to not be a fluke team, or an "Exhibition only entertainment show" team like some other teams we know.  We haven't seen the best of this team, yet. And remaining time in the rest of the season will only tell what records they may break. It's a different kind of interesting team to watch, because they are a different kind of dominating team. But they're real, their good and their reliable.

Birdville shows they can respond in crunch

HALTOM CITY:      Birdville showed they can respond in the crunch on Thursday night, defeating the Panthers in the annual North-East Lions Club Tournament.
Birdville  committed 20 turnovers in Thursday night’s  North East Lions Club Tournament game (Round one) vs. Paschall High.     — Despite an at times, sloppy offense, the Hawks got some big scores when it counted the most, and their defense, according to Coach (Jeff) Fitch is what helped them win this game, more than anything.  ”Our defense helped make our offense”  Fitch said.
— There was a point in the game where  neither team could get a score, and that point came in the fourth-quarter.     — All the sudden, almost out of  no where, the Hawks started hitting some shots.   It started with Crane, and then Kendall Johnson.      That’s what put the game away for Birdville (2-3), who beat the Paschall Panthers (1-3) 45-41 on Thursday night.       And it’s situations like this, that will help guide this team through the season.     They  needed  to prove they could respond, and they did.   It’s games like the one vs. Denton Guyer, and Tuesday night’s heart-breaking last-second loss to Fossil Ridge that show they can respond.    — And as long as they can do that, they should be just fine.             Birdville will play Haltom for tomorrow night’s round two tournament game at the Thomas Coliseum.

Hawks lose close game to Fossil Ridge

Birdville vs. Fossil Ridge:
Written by Site Editor Thomas Brunt:
HALTOM CITY:   Coach Jeff Fitch said it wasn't a must win game.    His team didn't play like it was one either.  – It was only their fourth game of  the new season.      They we’re coming off a closely contested battle from their last-game in which they only lost by seven to a really good team.  ”Every time you play an athletic team, it helps you” said Coach Fitch before the game.          —  It helped them out somewhat, but the Hawks defensive game showed up more than their offense,  and this, and  16 turnovers isn't going to help you out much.     Though, it should be noted the Hawks only had three-second half turnovers, as oppose to 13 first-half  turnovers.   Sophomore guard Andrew Sorrells  led the team in something he probably didn't want to, as he  had 4 turnovers.
— However, despite these turnovers, the Hawks were in it the entire game, as the two team’s  struggled to get ahead with a convincing lead at any-point.    But turnovers, like they had earlier in the game, haunted the Hawks, as they turned it over on a crucial possession in the final seconds.      The Panthers, much to the Hawks misfortunes capitalized on the turnover, going the other way and scoring the game-winner with nine seconds left in the game.      – Birdville got the ball down the court and was able to get one last-shot at it, and it was a nice look, to, however it didn't go in, as the buzzer sounded, the Panthers squeezed on past the Hawks in this one, 32-30.   “When you hold someone to 32 points, you’re supposed to win” Coach Fitch said.   “We missed a lot of make-able shots”  he added.      — While this one wasn't a must win, it can be looked up as a game they could have won, but they can only move on and continue to improve and play basketball, as there is 28 games remaining, and the Hawks have shown some moments of  greatness so far this season, even at 1-3.
Birdville hosts a tournament at the  Willy G. Thomas Coliseum on Thursday (11/29-Saturday (12-1).

COLUMN: Ohio State Football Fans still care..

Don't dare think that Ohio State football fans don't care anymore.      --- There is no doubt Ohio State football fans still care.   There’s no question about it.   — Don’t even question their fanhood.  That would be you’re first mistake.   Many of which the Buckeyes have made, leading to where they are now.
You can choose to be mad at Ohio State all you want, but it will doesn’t matter.   And it never will.   There is nothing nobody can do about it.  Whine all you want, and beg, do you’re worst, but it’s not going to ever help.    The Buckeyes’ 12-0 record will not save their season,  quarterback Braxton Miller’s solid numbers  won’t  be enough to  salvage this sour-taste, but it’s not the sour-taste you would think they have.     Either way, it doesn’t matter,  The Buckeyes, due to their own stupidity, will not be going bowling this time.    —  It doesn’t matter if they played 14 games, and still went undefeated, as they are under NCAA Sanctions.       There’s the negative side, now I present to you some light.    – You can choose to view this situation either-way you like.
But the Buckeyes aren’t the only one’s who know what it feels like.     Look no further than the 2011 USC Trojans football team, which may I add due to sanctions, allowed UCLA to compete in the Big Ten Championship game that season, which takes a bunch of legitimacy away from the land of  College Football.   —   Talk about a Trojan virus, right?
That’s what the Buckeyes are dealing with now.      It’s not something the fans can be happy about, but they cheer their team on every Saturday, anyway.   They cheer them on as if  their not under sanctions.    The sight of  the uplifted  cheerful fans gives some chills.    — It gives some chills because they can see past the blind-side of which the NCAA committee can’t.
— They can choose to punish this school even more, and it still won’t  light a candle in the school spirit.    Or they can choose to whine and moan because the fans have spirit, and they don’t.
The sight of the fans that still believe, even when all hope is gone, is what made this season’s  Ohio State team special.    —  ”Special”?  You might ask.   Yeah, special. You know, the special that defines this team, which is unlike any-other,  and it gives some chills.    – Those people who sanctioned this team don’t know the first thing about special, or any other thing this team gave, and in turn they have their old Red and White to thank, because like them, they’re special.    — That’s what makes this team special.  – Special enough for their fans to care, even at this point when they won’t be bowling.
— This doesn’t have to be said to them though.  – They know this, that’s exactly what makes them special, you know?       The uplifted sight of  the Ohio State alumni helped the team, and that sight that gives some chills is all due to the fact that they care.   They care because it’s still football, and they know they can still win, and rub it in the faces of  the nay-s
Block O in a game in the south stands

ayers.  – Now that’s what makes them special.    --- In case you we're wondering, there's no question, Ohio State football fans, they still care.

MY TAKE ON D3 PLAYER SCORING 138 PTS IN ONE GAME..

A player with the name of  Jack Tyler, a sophomore guard dropped 139 points  on an overwhelmed Faith Baptist Bible team.    And that’s not nice.   It’s not nice that someone would do that in these circumstances.
The circumstances of which it was a blowout game, isn’t nice, it’s disrespectful to the great game of Basketball, and if  he had any respect he would of  stopped scoring,  evidently, he didn’t.   Tyler continued to attack, and was successful  in doing so.       Maybe it’s not the kid’s fault, maybe it’s the coaches fault.    —  I mean, why didn’t he just take him out of  the game when they had a good enough lead in the game?      Tyler could have asked his coach to take him out of the game though, but he didn’t.    Guess what he did instead, he continued to score.     And that’s disrespectful.

BIRDVILLE MEN’S VARSITY BASKETBALL PROVES THEY CAN HANG WITH TOP RANKED TEXAS HS BASKETBALL TEAM, DESPITE THE LOSS FOR THE HAWKS, THEY STILL HAVE A LOT TO BE POSITIVE ABOUT

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS:    Sometimes, it may just be possible to feel like you won a game, when really you lost the game.   For the Birdville Hawks, who lost to the ninth ranked team in the state of  Texas, that may hold true, for now anyway.
It says a lot about you’re team when you can give a really good basketball team, like Denton Guyer a run for their money, even if you lose.
— And on Tuesday night,  that’s exactly what Birdville’s varsity basketball team did in front of their home-crowd.    –  Despite suffering this defeat, though, there is plenty  for the Hawks to keep their heads up for.
Birdville really found out a lot about their own identity, as they stuck with the ninth ranked team in the state of  Texas for the entire game.   “You have to play good teams to get good” said an impressed Coach Jeff Fitch.      Sometimes it’s losses like these that Coach’s can deal with, as long as it doesn’t happen all season long, that is.           Birdville’s early successes were   thanks to their hot-shooting.
— Sophomore guard Andrew Sorrells helped make the game close, as he hit  4 three pointers in the loss.    This was a bounce-back performance for the guard, who went 1-8  in  a win on Friday night’s game at Joshua.    — While we’re at it, let’s not forget to add Junior Guard Jeremy Crane, who  also helped out as well in this game, as he also had a solid-night in Friady night’s win over Joshua.
The Hawks are only three games into the season, and despite this loss, and their loss at Azle, they have a lot to be positive about.     — Sometimes,  if you have some talent, and mix it with some  positivity    you could go a long-ways, the Birdville Hawks may just have that.

Game Article on Birdville vs. Joshua 11/16/12

JOSHUA:  Birdville Hawks Junior Guard Jeremy Crane felt like his team was going to bounce back and get a victory on Friday night:  "I feel a win coming on" said Crane, who connected on 7-13 shots, and led all scorers with 20 points.  Birdville got off to a hot-start against former Birdville assistant coach, Jeff Hudak, and the Joshua Owls.  Birdville allowed just nine points from Joshua in the first-half.   In the second half though, the Owls, led by the adjustments of  the new head-coach were able to put on a little run in the third quarter,  and got to as close as eight points, the Hawks however took back what was rightfully there's in that game, despite the attempt in the run by Joshua, the Hawks would hang on to win this one by the final score of 49-32.

For the Cowboys, it’s all about survival:

For the Cowboys, it’s all about survival:
Written by Thomas Brunt:
Survival, for every team, is the number one priority in the NFL, especially  if you’re the Dallas Cowboys, but don’t tell them that.

This is a team that barely beat… the Cleveland Browns.    Who are these Dallas Cowboys?    It seems that their true identity can be figured out one week, but it doesn’t stay that way every week. That very reality, right there, is the Cowboys’ biggest problem more than anything else.

Dallas isn’t fooling anyone. Sunday’s ketchup-bottle-squeak-by win wasn’t impressive.   The lingering issue is consistency (or a lack thereof) — that’s what it takes to reach and then remain in the upper echelon of the NFL.
If there’s anything that can be learned  for sure about this team, is to never assume who or what they are.     Yes, they’re the Dallas Cowboys,  but to dig beyond the surface, it’s more precise to say that they’re a team without an identity. Winning teams establish a proven identity, a formula for success. The Cowboys have not done so in 2012.
I’m no film guru like John Gruden is, but I can tell you what I know for sure: Quarterback Tony Romo shouldn’t shoulder all the blame for Dallas’ struggles, largely because he’s been trying to merely survive the season. Romo is constantly on the run, trying to make nothing out of something due to his swiss-cheese offensive line, but don’t tell him that — it’s something he already knows.
Survival is important for the Cowboys, and for head coach Jason Garrett, who often gets blamed for late-game clock mismanagement adventures, this season has not been very fun. In the midst of adversity, you know everyone is going to point the finger right at the head coach or the quarterback. Garrett and Romo must respond to that pressure by doing what they can to minimize the impotence of their offensive line. That is the key to a successful stretch run of this 2012 season.

Sources-- Toronto Blue Jays reach deal with Darren Oliver

I'm a Freshman sports-writer/reporter for Birdville High School (Birdville Hawks, BISD). --- This is MY OWN PERSONAL sports-blog, and it MAY NOT BE copied in any shape, way, or form at all what so ever.
---
Left handed reliever Darren Oliver has agreed to a one-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays with a club option for 2013, that is pending a physical, according to sources Friday.

---
Oliver, who turned 41 in October, was a key member in the Texas Rangers' bullpen  the past two seasons.  He (Oliver) had a 5-5 record with a 2.29 ERA in 51 innings with two saves and 16 holds in 2011.
 ---
Oliver has also provided some veteran leadership for a young pitching staff after returning to the Rangers following three seasons with Anaheim.

Talkin' Cowboys: Giant Matchup

Talkin' Cowboys: Giant Matchup I'm a Freshman sports-writer/reporter for Birdville High School (Birdville Hawks, BISD). --- This is MY OWN PERSONAL sports-blog, and it MAY NOT BE copied in any shape, way, or form at all what so ever.

---

NEW YORK: It comes down to this, the Dallas Cowboys on the road at the New York Giants for the AFC East, for the playoffs, it all comes down to one game on Sunday afternoon. --- This game, being the key to both teams's road to the playoffs. --- But only one team in the end, will come out victorious, and that's whether it ends up as a tie, because of the last-time these two teams met, the Giants won, so this game, yes, as much as the Giants need to win this game, it's in a sense, more of a must win for Dallas. --- And if the Cowboys do win this huge game, they have a shot at a rematch vs. the Lions, and you know how that game went in the regular season.

-- Tony Romo is expected to play for the Cowboys, who got his hand injured in Sunday's meaningless game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, which Philadelphia won 20-7. --- Because of the Giants beating the Jets, the Eagles are mathematically speaking, eliminated (for good) from the post-season. --- And that's regardless of who ever wins this Sunday's game between Dallas and New York.

* If the Giants lost to the Jets in Sunday's game at the Jets, and if Philadelphia beat Dallas, than this would be Philly controlling their own destiny for one more Sunday on out.

---

* If Tony Romo doesn't for some reason end up starting in Sunay's game at the Giants, 3rd stringer QB Stephen McGee will play, due to 2nd string QB (John Kitna) being placed on the "IR".

---

* But don't expect to see McGee starting on Sunday's game for Dallas, reports are that Romo has been "good" in practice, and is "okay to start Sunday's game at the Giants" according to a source.
